Trains Begin Creating “No Phone Zones”

When mobile phones first started being used regularly, many people were concerned about the rudeness that came along with them. It took some time to get used to hearing people talk on their own phones all around us in public spaces but the most part, we’ve adjusted. We conduct our business by phone in all types of public spaces including on public transport.
However, a U.S. transit system in New Jersey is hoping to put an end to that with its new “quiet cars”. People who wish to enjoy a quiet commute can choose to sit in these cars where mobile…

BlackBerry App World Reaches 10,000 Apps

When Apple boast about 250,000 applications being available for download from the App Store, and Google report figures of 80,000 for the Android Market, RIM announcing that the BlackBerry App World has recently passed the 10,000 app milestone makes it look like a small fish in a big pond.
However, it’s quality not quantity that counts and we’re all guilty of being blinded by these figures, as this achievement should not go unrecognised. RIM opened the doors to the App World in April 2009 with less than a thousand apps inside, plus a restriction on the countries that could have access to…

Christmas 2010: Google Music for Android Users

Talks have been in the works for a while about a Google Music service designed to compete with Apple’s iTunes and Wired has reported that it’s likely to be released by Christmas.
There is a huge Android vs. Apple war going on right now. The two companies are battling each other for dominance across several different markets. The most obvious competition is between the iPhone and the various Android handsets that have been released. However, the two companies are also competing in areas such as online TV and movies, software and advertising.

Yendo You Remember Me?

Remember the Sony Ericsson Yendo? Perhaps not, but let us reacquaint you. The Yendo was announced back in the middle of June along with the Cedar and on the back of the X8’s debut. Previously seen under the ever-so-sweet codename of TeaCake, this was the return of the Walkman phone, and the first of which to wear a full touchscreen.
Well, the W150i Yendo is just about ready for sale, with a Spanish retailer listing it as costing €169, or about £140. The Yendo has also been approved for sale in the USA, where it will be known as the Yizo. Nice. Anyway, the Yizo will share…

This year’s Nokia World convention is almost here, and has brought plenty of speculation with it. Not only is the Finnish manufacturer’s new flagship Eseries device, the Nokia E7, expected to take centre stage during the event but rumours are putting the Nokia N9, the company’s first MeeGo handset there as well.
Nokia insiders burst that bubble earlier though and revealed that this is not the case to a Swedish website claiming that the N9 has been delayed and Symbian^3 will be the hottest topic on this year’s agenda. However, Nokia’s PR people quashed any reports of a delay stating that…

HTC HD7 to be Announced at HTC Event Next Week?

Earlier this week, we reported that HTC’s rumoured Windows Phone 7 device, the HD3 appeared as the HTC HD7 in an O2 document. It was an assumption mainly based on the release date that was printed with it, which was smack bang in the middle of October, when the highly anticipated Microsoft OS is due to hit UK shores.
We’ve known about next week’s HTC London event for a little while now, but the manufacturer didn’t give much away when it came to handing the invites out. Now, T3 has heard that the Taiwanese manufacturer will be unveiling the HD7 next…

Battling For A Promotion: Corporate Fury For iPhone

How do you move up the corporate ladder in your company?  We’re guessing it isn’t as fun as in Corporate Fury, where you receive your promotion by beating whoever has your desired job senseless in 3D arena brawls.
Cast in a semi-open world, you start off as a low-ranking production worker, just waking up after taking a brutal beating from your supervisor.  Your buddy Mike fills you in on what happened, since you’ve had a temporary bout of amnesia after all the head trauma you received.
Most of your time will be spent flitting between Frank’s Goods, an in-game shop where you can purchase upgrades of all varieties, and Mike, who books your fights for you.  While the actual game world is restricted to a single office building, it is quite a massive indoor city, so you can spend plenty of time exploring and getting into some random violence.
Controls consist of an [...]
